- Jimmie is passionate about writing, poetry, and reviewing books. A native Texan, he grew up in a career military family. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from The University of Texas at Arlington majoring in history with minors in English and military science. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation and selected for active duty. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He also holds a master of arts degree. Jimmie sold his first magazine article in September 1981. Since then has been published in over a dozen magazines and trade journals including getting three cover articles. He reviews and edits books in the military history genre for several publishers. He's an active member of the Dallas Writing practice Group and DFW Writer's Workshop.
